As usual the air was bitterly cold and the saber-toothed homotherium found herself wondering when her next meal would be. Gossamer had recently settled in the tundra that was now covered in a few feet of snow from the harsh December. It was a new year but she didn't feel refreshed or rejuvinated. It would be another hard year of struggling to survive. Gossamer scented the air for the herd of Megaloceros, giant elk, that she'd been tracking in their migration. Though considering the current weather she couldn't imagine that they were migrating anywhere.
The large cat sat in the snow and pondered whether she really wanted to go hunting right now or not. She wasn't full but neither was she terribly hungry right now and once again it was beginning to snow. Her coat had kept her warm but exerting herself meant sweating and with the wind picking up it looked likely to storm again.
Gossamer padded over to the river that ran through the tundra, parts of it were frozen solid but others had been broken up by hooved mammals. Gossamer quickly gulped the water down, knowing it was important to keep herself hydrated no matter how cold the water might be. Finished, she started heading back towards her den to wait this storm out. She still had some bones and marrow to tide her over...hopefully the storm wouldn't be too long.

NYX The black bat shivered, folding her wings close to her furry body. Boy, was it cold! She was used to a bit of chill, since caves were always a bit on the cold side, but this was ridiculous! She would have to find some place a bit warmer to spend her days in once night fell. She was going to try take a nap and rest up before she went out, but that was proving to be a difficult task as she hung from the roof of the cave, shivering.
Maybe if she found some way to warm herself up. Peering down at the floor a ways below her, Nyx's dilated eyes looked about. She wasn't really sure what she was looking for, a warm body to creep close to and borrow body heat from maybe? But nothing was was around, save a few bones that littered the floor.
It was proof that someone was living here, but they seemed to be gone now. The other occupant of the cave the bat did not know. She had been here a few days, but she hadn't payed much mind to the other resident here. She was always awake when they were asleep, or asleep when they were awake. There was yet to be an in-between when they were both awake.
Nyx continued to shiver, but she couldn't do anything to warm up. She could only wrap her wings lightly around her and hope that she warmed up.
OOC: Hope you don't mind that I put my bat in Gossamer's den. :3

ooc: no worries, should be funny ic:
It was snowing heavily by the time Gossamer reached her den and without a second thought she shook as much of the snow off her coat as she could and slipped inside. Ahhh....that was so much better to have these walls against the wind. She could almost purr at the contentment of having such a quaint little hiding spot in the expanse of this cave. With a few leaps she was up to the crevice that she had claimed as her own.
Yawing Gossamer stretched and licked some of the remaining ice from her fur. Giving her pelt a thorough shake one last time she curled up against the walls, nestling herself on the remains of various grasses and lichens she'd managed to gather as well as a few clumps of fur from her various kills. The pelts had long since dried so she didn't have to worry about the smell of blood. Anymore the only scent the pelts gave off was hers and her owns.
Letting loose another yawn, the young homotherium curled up into a ball to drift asleep.
